Notable
Performances:
5/2/88:

Collects first major league hit (off Jimmy Jones) and first multi-hit game, finishing the game 2 for 5 in major league debut against San Diego.

5/3/88: In second MLB game, scores three runs and records first walk, first strikeout and first extra-base hit.
5/4/88: Hits first major league homerun (off Keith Comstock) in third MLB game.
7/1/88: Against Los Angeles, drives in 5 RBIs, a career high
7/5/89: Smashes four extra-base hits, 3 doubles and a homerun, against the Padres. Although he has never again hit 4 extra-base hits in a game, Grace has hit 3 doubles in a game on 6 occasions.
8/19/89: Records first multi-homerun game of his career vs. the Houston Astros, a feat he has accomplished three times in his career (other games were 7/4/91 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates and 5/14/98 vs. Colorado Rockies).
4/17/90: The normally slow-of-foot Grace steals two bases in a single game against the New York Mets. Remarkably, he does it again two days later, stealing two bases again against the Mets. These are the only two games in his career with multiple stolen bases.
5/18/92: Slugs 2 triples in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the only time in his career he has accomplished this feat.
5/9/93: Hits for the cycle against the San Diego Padres, collecting a single, double and triple off starter Greg Harris and a homerun in the 9th inning off reliever Rich Rodriguez. Cubs still lose, 5 to 4.
8/10/95: Becomes the sixth National Leaguer to walk 6 times in a double header versus San Diego.
5/8/98: Walks four times in a game against the San Francisco Giants, a feat he has accomplished twice, the other being on 8/29/00 vs. the Padres.
9/13/98: Sends the Wrigley faithful home happy on "Gracie the Swan Beanie Baby Day" when he hits the game-winning home run in the bottom of the 10th inning vs. the Brewers.
5/4/99: Takes Colorado Rockies hurler Darryl Kile deep for his first career grand slam.
7/26/00: Knocks in 6 RBIs in a single game, the most of his career, vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. His dramatic 9th inning grand slam helps lift the Cubs to a come-from-behind 14-9 victory.
8/6/00: Records 5 hits in a game, including 2 singles, 2 doubles and a homerun, against the San Diego Padres.
4/2/01: In his Diamondbacks debut, goes 2 for 5 with 2 doubles as D-backs defeat the Dodgers 3-2.
4/6/01: Smashes first home run as a Diamondback in his fourth game with the club off of Cardinals’ Dustin Hermanson.
5/31/01: Hits third career grand slam, his first as a Diamondback, off Ricky Bottalico for a 6-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
9/2/02: In what is later voted the funniest moment of the 2001 season on a MLB.com poll, Grace pitches the 9th inning of a 19-1 loss to the Dodgers. After inducing the first two batters to fly out, Grace floats a 65 MPH “fastball” to rookie David Ross, whom promptly deposits it in the right field bleachers. Mark finishes with a 1 hit, 1 run inning of relief for a career ERA of 9.00
